Privacy policy
ClearPathCars (“ClearPathCars,” “we,” or “us”) connects people selling a vehicle in metro Atlanta, Georgia with independent partner dealerships. This policy explains what information we collect through www.clearpathcars.com, how we use and share it, and the choices you have.
The short version
- We collect what you enter in the offer form, plus basic information about how you reached and used our site.
- We send your contact and vehicle details to a partner dealer so they can contact you and make an offer. Dealers pay ClearPathCars when they buy a car through us.
- We use Google Analytics and Google Ads to understand how our site and our ads perform.
- You can ask us to delete your information at any time by emailing hello@clearpathcars.com.
What we collect
What you give us
When you request an offer, we collect:
- Your vehicle’s year, make, model, and trim, or its VIN.
- Its mileage and condition, any issues you tell us about, whether it has a loan or lease, and when you’d like to sell.
- Your first and last name, mobile phone number, email address, and ZIP code.
What we collect automatically
- The page where you submitted the form and, if you arrived from an ad or a link, the campaign details in that link, such as UTM tags and click identifiers from Google, Microsoft, or Facebook.
- Information collected by our analytics and advertising tools, described under “Analytics, advertising, and cookies” below.
- Technical information that our hosting provider processes to deliver the site and protect it from abuse, such as your IP address and browser type.
What stays in your browser
The offer form saves your answers in your browser’s session storage so a reload doesn’t erase them. Nothing you type is sent to us until you submit the form, and your browser clears the saved answers when you close the tab.
When you choose a make or enter a VIN, your browser looks up model details in the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s public vehicle database (vPIC). That request goes from your browser to NHTSA and includes the make or VIN you entered, but not your name or contact details.
How we use your information
- To pass your request to a partner dealer that’s looking for cars like yours, so they can contact you, inspect the car, and make an offer.
- To follow up with you about your request.
- To keep records of the requests we send to dealers and the cars they buy.
- To understand how people find and use our site, and how well our ads work.
- To protect our site and form from spam and abuse.
- To comply with the law.
Who we share it with
- A partner dealership in metro Atlanta receives your name, contact details, ZIP code, and vehicle details, and uses them to contact you about buying your car. Dealers are independent businesses, and their own privacy policies cover what they do with your information once they have it. Dealers pay ClearPathCars when they buy a car through us.
- Service providers that help us run our business handle it under their own terms. Cloudflare hosts our site and processes the form, Discord carries new requests to a private channel only we can see, Google provides analytics and advertising measurement, and email and messaging services carry our messages to you and to dealers.
- We share it when the law requires it, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our customers, our business, or others.
- If our business is sold or merged, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
Calls, texts, and email
When you submit the offer form, you agree that ClearPathCars and its partner dealers may contact you about selling your vehicle by call, text, or email, including by automated means, at the number and email you provided. Consent isn’t a condition of any sale, and message and data rates may apply.
To stop hearing from us, email hello@clearpathcars.com or tell us when we contact you. To stop hearing from a dealer, tell the dealer directly. If you ask us to stop, we’ll also pass your request on to the dealer we sent your information to.
Analytics, advertising, and cookies
Our site uses these Google services, which set cookies or use similar technology:
- Google Analytics shows us how visitors use the site: which pages they view, how far they get through the offer form, and where they came from.
- Google Ads conversion tracking tells Google when someone who clicked one of our ads submits a request, so we can measure and improve our ads.
- With enhanced conversions, when you submit the form, Google’s tag may send your email address and phone number to Google in hashed form (converted to a code that can’t be read as text), so Google can match the request to an ad click.
Google explains how it uses this information in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services. You can turn off personalized Google ads at My Ad Center, install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or block and delete cookies in your browser’s settings.
How long we keep it
We keep your request for as long as we need it to connect you with a dealer, follow up, and keep records of referrals and purchases, unless you ask us to delete it sooner or the law requires us to keep it longer.
Your choices
Email hello@clearpathcars.com to:
- Ask what information we have about you.
- Correct it.
- Delete it. We’ll also ask the dealer we sent it to, if any, to delete it.
- Stop calls, texts, and email from us.
We may need to confirm it’s you before acting on a request.
Security
We protect your information with reasonable measures, such as encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access limited to the people who need it. No way of sending or storing information is completely secure, so we can’t guarantee it.
Children
Our site is meant for adults selling a vehicle. We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
We’ll update this page when our practices change and change the “Last updated” date at the top. If a change is significant, we’ll make it clear on this page.
